
TIP #1 - When strawberries are in abundance late in the year, drying is a fantastic way to use them up!

TIP #2 - 5mm is the ideal thickness for drying strawberries.

TIP #3 - Remember to leave space between the strawberries to avoid them sticking together.

TIP #4 - Dried strawberries are even more delicoius when dipped in chocolate!

The following recipes show why Strawberries are such a great fruit to dehydrate! With an Ezidri dehydrator, you can create dried strawberry slices, rollups or powder in no time at all! Dried strawberry makes a great snack plain or chocolate-dipped and strawberry powder is delicious when sprinkled on top of yoghurt or ice-cream! It is also fantastic when rehydrated and when used in a variety of recipes like rollups, pies, cakes or more!

HOW TO DRY STRAWBERRIES
When Strawberries are in abundance, a great use for them is Dehydrating. As well as drying them in slices, you can add them to your rollups, or grind them into a fine powder - all delicious and very easy!
Simply wash your strawberries and either slice off the top or pull of the stalk. Then slice into 5 mm wide slices and place on the trays of your Ezidri dehydrator. Dependent on how dry you like your strawberries, dehydrate at 55 deg C (Snackmaker - Medium) for 5-10 hours.
Don't forget, the dried slices are delicious gift idea when dipped in chocolate!

STRAWBERRY GRANOLA
Ingredients 4 cups oats 1 cup sunflower kernels 1/2 cup sesame seeds 1 cup dried coconut 1/4 cup wheat germ 1/2 cup bran flakes 1/2 cup soy grits, optional 1 1/2 cups cashew nuts or peanuts 1/4 cup powdered milk (don't use instant) 3/4 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 3/4 cup honey 1 tsp vanilla extract 1-2 cups chopped dried strawberries
Method Heat oven to 140 deg C.
Mix oats with sunflower kernels, sesame seeds, coconut, wheat germ, bran flakes, soy grits, nuts & powdered milk. Mix oil with brown sugar, honey & vanilla and toss with oat mixture.
Transfer to a large greased baking pan & bake for about 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes, until mixture turns golden brown.
Remove from oven, add dried strawberries & spread out on waxed paper until cooled. Use your hands to crumble into smaller pieces & enjoy!

STRAWBERRY SHAKE
Ingredients 1 cup cold water 5 Tbsp instant dried milk 1 Tbsp dried strawberry powder 1 Tbsp sugar, to taste
Method In a large covered container, combine all of the ingredients & shake well. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavours to blend. Shake again & serve as is, or over ice cubes and enjoy!

STRAWBERRY SYRUP
Ingredients 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup dried strawberries 1 cup brown sugar
Method Combine the 1/2 cup water & the dried strawberries. Let sit for 10 minutes to rehydrate.
Place the pan over high heat & bring the mixture to a boil. Add the brown sugar, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes. Let cool, during which time the syrup will thicken.
This syrup is delicious when served on top of pancakes!
